New Year weight loss programmes are big business! I’ve been studying the market for a while now and keep coming to the same conclusion – any given diet will only work for certain people long term. If they don’t have many deeply ingrained negative beliefs around food and their body then they possibly will keep the weight off. I know one or two people like this – but they are few and far between.
Why would a diet work for some and not for others – because one size (or diet) doesn’t fit all. Not every body type is suited to the same food. For example, following the Ayurveda principle, eating more brocolli, cabbage and cauliflower in your diet wouldn’t be recommended if your constitution is mainly Vata dosha (thin boned) even though these vegetables are classed as health foods. The reason for this is that they produce gas and bloating and will aggravate your dosha.
How many of us have given up chocolate and swore we would never touch another piece only to tuck into a whole bar at the first signs of stress?
This is where Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) can help. It allows us to understand our negative beliefs around food and how we think about our bodies. It also gets rid of the anxiety we feel before we dive into a box of chocolates or take the packet of biscuits out of the cupboard.
This anxiety often stems from our early years when learned the belief system unique to us. Certain events or life situations caused disruptions in our body’s energy system. We experienced negative emotions such as fear, guilt, anger, etc and still do.
Many of us are so used to being caught in up in this negative belief cycle that we don’t even notice our self talk. We often experience negative emotions and have no idea where are coming from. Emotional Freedom Technique allows us to break free by gently releasing our negative emotions.
EFT is such a handy tool to have around when we feel stressed because the tapping really does work. The biscuits stay in the cupboard and the chocolate in the chocolate aisle of your local supermarket!

I’m one of those "tried everything" women who lost and gained back, and lost again (mostly I gained back because I stopped paying attention). Right now I’m losing with Nutrisystem and K2O (Kellog’s water) between meals.
There’s a great booklet I bought from Nutrisystem called "Mindset Makeover." It’s a 12-week plan that helps you change the behavior of overeating and sedentary-ness. I love it. Part of it is a list of behaviors that most thin people have (that obese people don’t). It’s one of my favorite sections because it helps me see that it’s not about sometimes being on a diet. It’s about being concerned full-time about your weight.
I lost 14 pounds this time, in a month, so I think that’s not bad, considering I’ve been cheating sometimes. That’s another tip I have:
Don’t be all perfectionist about it. You will stick with a diet longer if you don’t beat yourself up for cheating sometimes. Just get back on track. And have a plan for everything. (What’s my plan if I cheat? What’s my plan if I get hungry? What’s my plan if…. if… if….?) Memorize the plans and execute them quickly as soon as you hit an obstacle.
If I ever lose all this weight (my BMI is 35), I couldn’t even think of not keeping it off. It is so hard to lose it in the first place. I think I’d become clinically depressed if I gained it back after losing it all. Maybe that’s part of why I’m scared to lose it. I’m terrified of gaining it back. Try to figure out what scares you about losing weight. It will do you good to know and to fight that fear directly.
Another tip: Don’t focus on the first week’s weight loss. Most weight loss in the first week is from retained water that you lose when you take in fewer calories. It’s encouraging to have a 7 pound weight loss on week 1, but if you get discouraged from a 2 pound weight loss in week 2, then… well, it’s better to be realistic. You can always lose about 5 lbs from taking a diuretic. Big deal, it’s fat you really want to lose.
Oh well, back to the trenches.

Believe You Can Lose the Weight
Here are some helpful tips;
•Infrared saunas burn calories and remove toxins. Perspiration is one of the most effective ways of ridding the body of chemicals and toxins. When we sweat our bodies go into thermal regulation which raises metabolism, burns fat and calories. Eliminating toxins in the body fixes metabolic imbalances that cause poor digestion and weight gain.
“Saunas are an important aid to weight loss and thyroid repair because as you lose weight, fat tissue releases stored toxins such as PCB s and pesticides.”
-Dr. Mark Hyman, author of NY Times best selling book “Ultrametabolism” and Sunlight Saunas customer.
The sauna experience is interesting; I definitely sweat more than when I run for an hour. It was a little uncomfortable but I recommend bringing lots of ice water, cold cloths & something to read. It will be interesting to see if I notice any differences but right away my complexion looks ten times better.
All in all I feel it is a good add for a weight loss tool.
•Rhubarb is a low glycemic, low calorie vegetable (yes vegetable) that is chock full of vitamins, fiber & minerals. The stalks of rhubarb have been used as a laxative. It also conveys bile salts from the liver and it assists the intestine in regulating the absorption of fat. It also serves as a colon tonic and speeds up metabolism. But the catch is that you can not douse it in sugar to consume it or that will defeat the purpose.
Here are a couple of methods I use to eat it;
I have chopped it and added it to my green smoothie which consists of chopped kale, chopped swiss chard, berries, a small amount of kelp & organic pure apple juice. This shake is really tasty!
You can also fry the rhubarb with some orange juice and add it to some plain yogurt for breakfast.
Caution: Just make sure you do not consume the leaves as these are poisonous.
•My philosophy is simple on weight loss, add more nutrient dense foods to your diet and you will lose weight. One of these super foods I highly recommend is the pear. The pear is a weight loss gem because it is rich in dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals & antioxidants. It is a low glycemic, low calorie snack that fills the stomach, lowers cholesterol & cleans the colon and body of dangerous toxins which inhibit weight loss.
So snack away on the delicious pear.
•I don’t believe there is an overnight fix for weight loss but I do believe there are a lot of great tools out there that can aid and accelerate weight loss. The acai berry is one of these weight loss tools that I believe to be useful. It has been called one of the most nutrient dense and potent super foods on earth. It is an antioxidant which is high in essential fatty acids, omegas 3, 6 & 9, fiber & vitamins. It is a low glycemic food and has been shown to lower cholesterol, blood pressure & toxins. It is also reported to ward off cravings, suppress appetite and increase energy levels.
Now I know that acai is under attack for false diet claims. Please be careful of any product that claims it will produce quick effortless results. Also beware of products that offer a free trial as they usually will auto bill you which can be a pain in the butt. Use a reliable source to find your product such as a website that you have purchased from before or your local health food store.
I am still going to give the acai berry a fair shot.

Dr. Mark Hyman
I have been through it all and know what’s it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can’t be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I’ve worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.
Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.
First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can’t eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising…
This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it’s good for the heart.
However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It’s so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I’ve found a great addition to help any one out, it’s a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don’t get all crazy on me and say diet pills don’t work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn’t meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It’s an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace dot com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it’s the best pill I’ve tried and I’ve tried cupboards full. Now this doesn’t mean you have to follow my foot steps but I’ve successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.
Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.

I have learned quite a shocking info recently. This is not a tip, but this can be said to be a whole trend of tips inside.
It turns out if you are having quite a nasty problem (and you can be even not aware of it), then any attempts to lose weight will fail.
Moreover, the doctor who is sharing this info says that many weight loss industry gurus know about it and still keep it secret, because they can sell you more weight loss drugs.
I am not a doctor to make decisions, but if you want to see how a certified doctor proves her point – please read this post http://www.freeweightlossexpert.com/how-to-loose-weight-shocking-truth/ and make sure to watch the video (you will see a link to the video in the post).
