This lavish full body treatment incorporates healing techniques of the Pacific Rim and Tibet and is performed entirely with heated bamboo and rattan tools. While fairly new to the United States, Bamboo massage is widely popular in Europe. It’s a medium to strong massage using bamboo sticks is used to increase to oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.  Deeper pressure is applied against deeper muscles and bones.  The movements simultaneously stimulate the skin and soothe the nerve endings.

The Bamboo massages is regarded as a body, face and limb massage that incorporate of varying lengths and diameter to provide drainage, relaxation and reshaping.  Bamboo symbolizes suppleness and resilience, straight forwardness and simplicity satisfies two major needs: relaxation and well-being.  From the end of the fingers, wrist, the hand is an expert system and when the accessories “ Bamboo” prolongs to the hand another way of being expressed then we enter a new dimension of feelings.

This massage originates from an ancient Malaysian tradition. The Bamboo plant symbolizes strength and flexibility, honesty and simplicity.  Bamboo sticks adjust perfectly to all body contours.  The oil massage drains, softens and reconstructs, flexes muscles, accelerates drainage of the lymphatic glands and renews tissue cells.

If you find this interesting and would like to know more about Bamboo Massage or even learn how to use it visit  MY blog  Tinkerbell Profile on Bamboo Massage at www.willypickle.com  there you will find thirty pages on this amazing subject and method.

You will learn the use of bamboo as tools and instruments to do bodywork session, use the different sizes and cuts of bamboo sticks as an extension of your hands, forearms and elbows then your hands and wrists, the use of bamboo will, help you to work more effectively.

Tian Di Bamboo Massage can be used in private practice, office an add-on to therapeutic and luxury treatments.

Tian Di is the spirit of heaven and Earth therefore we bring in with Tian Di Bamboo massage of life, as above so below and the carries of this treatment is the bamboo and you…… with heaven and earth.

You will have the understanding of how the unique properties of bamboo are passed healing, restoration and balance.  Bamboo’s outer walls are covered with silica, the crystals therefore having the same properties.

Two of the main properties are Piezoelectricity and Piezoelectricity.   Piezoelectricity is activated with pressure and Pyroelectricity with heat.  These two properties we use the Cho sticks allowing us to penetrate deep into the tissues. Many clients have expressed whole body tingling and a warming sensation.  Bamboo massage will help to dissipate stagnant heat as a result of accumulation of toxins therefore aiding in deep tissue healing, spasms, trigger points as well as the elimination.

In addition to learning how to use bamboo to do the treatments you will learn the basic use of Gua Sha.   Cupping is a method of applying acupressure by creating a vacuum next to the patient’s skin.   In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) it involves placing glass, plastic, or bamboo cups on the skin with a vacuum.   Cupping therapy is used to relieve stagnation in TCM terms, and is used in the treatment of respiratory diseases such as the common cold, pneumonia, and bronchitis.  Cupping is also used to treat back, neck, shoulder, and many other musculoskeletal pains.

Cupping has been found to penetrate the four tissue four inches into the body: causing to activating the Lymphatic system; clearing colon blockages; helping to activate and dilate capillaries; activating the skin; clearing stretch marks; and improving varicose veins tissue massage available.

Gua Sha, gua meaning to scrape or extract and Sha, meaning sand or toxins.  It is a Chinese healing technique that dates back over two thousand years.  This ancient meaning Chi or bioelectric vital life energy, blood circulation and removal of toxic heat, stagnant from the body.  Chi is the constant and vigorous movement of energy or life force that’s alive

Any patient that suffers from stiff joints, chronic pain, poor circulation, stiff muscles, fatigue and more can benefit from this treatment.

Qigong, Electricity & The Human Body

Electricity, defined by Merriam-Webster, is as follows: a fundamental form of energy observable in positive and negative forms that occurs naturally (as in lightning) or is produced (as in a generator) and that is expensed in terms of the movement and interaction of electrons.

Generally speaking, when thinking of electricity, we think of it as something external to our human bodies: the naturally occurring lightning and human created technology being two said instances. There is, however, a form of electricity that is prevalent in every living creature: bioelectricity.

Bioelectricity is the electric phenomena related to living organisms. It is bioelectricity that enables a shark to map the ocean floor. It is bio-electromagnetic phenomena that enable migratory birds to travel great distances at the same time each year with the accuracy we have only been able to reproduce with maps and GPS. It is bioelectricity that enables the electric eel to generate large fields of current outside their bodies.

The difference of electricity vs. bioelectricity is in degree, not in kind. Whereas a lightning bolt can exceed temperatures of 54,000 degrees Fahrenheit (30,000 degrees Celsius), that same current runs through the human body, just on a smaller scale.

In fact, the human body runs largely off of [bio] electricity and has organs dedicated to sensing electromagnetic impulses, both inside and outside the human body. The pineal and pituitary glands are both directly tied to the human body’s ability to sense and actively experience electromagnetic phenomenon.

The pineal gland is the evolutionary descendant of our ancestors’ ability to perceive light. It also regulates the circadian rhythms of the body, biological rhythms that are attuned to the day-night cycle, (Celtoslavica, Electricity and Human Consciousness); these ‘rhythms’ can be and have been disrupted by electromagnetic fields, both naturally occurring as well as man-made. The pituitary gland controls and influences all other hormonal organs which report back to the pituitary gland(Celtoslavica, Electricity and Human Consciousness); in fact, the pituitary gland is largely responsible for the overall functioning and efficiency of the human nervous system.

The nervous system in human beings is based entirely off of the ability to transmit electric pulses. Every cell within the human body pumps ions (e.g. that which makes up the quantum field), in and out of the cell for energy purposes; this is called the Sodium-Potassium pump, and can be found in all animal life. Said energy, in the biological animal, is called “adenosine triphosphate” (ATP); biologists and biochemist alike have noted that ATP can be neutral, or carry a charge (plus or minus), and is, infact, a charged particle which the cells use for energy. ATP is the final product of the digestive cycle and further exemplifies the human being’s connection (and ability) to experience and manipulate the electromagnetic fields that permeate the Universe.

“Bio-magnetism: An Awesome Force in Our Lives,” an article published by Reader’s Digest (January 1983), highlights some of the [still] cutting edge concepts the scientific community is, and has been, practicing:
“When a patient with a broken leg that is not healing properly comes to Dr. Basset (Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, NY), he is likely to go home with two heavy pads connected by wires to a box that can plug into an electrical wall socket. The patient puts one pad on each side of his broken bone and turns on the device. Coils of wire in the pad induce a pulsing electromagnetic field into his flesh and bone — a field of energy that somehow commands the bone to heal itself.”

As postulated by the scientists interviewed in the article, it makes sense that human beings have the innate ability to sense electromagnetic phenomena:
“We live on a sun-lit planet, and most living things have acquired some means to use the light. We live in a world filled with sounds, and most living things have developed a means to sense vibrations. Since our planet is also a giant magnet, it should not surprise us to discover that we and many other living things have a sensitivity to Earth’s magnetic-force field.”

As we look from large-scale physics, e.g., the lightning bolt and the sodium-potassium pump, to smaller scale electromagnetic phenomenon, we find ourselves in the realm of quantum mechanics. Light is an electromagnetic phenomenon. Light is both a wave and a particle. In terms of quantum mechanics, electricity and light are the same. The oscillations of the impulses create the divergent effects. Microwaves, radio waves, even the non-lethal weapons of the US Army (such as the Active Denial System jnlwp[dot]com/ads.asp) are based out of electromagnetic fields.

Chi, too, is an electromagnetic phenomenon. Chi is energy; light energy; bio-electromagnetic energy; electricity. The degree of strength in an electromagnetic impulse is the difference between the heart pumping vs. a heart attack. When building chi, it is important to understand, important to know, that the electricity you are both introducing to your body as well as augmenting within your body, can be controlled/manipulated by your mind; without direct and focused intent, the electrical impulses will be raw, hot, and uncomfortable.

In the previously quoted Reader’s Digest article, researchers as far back as 1983 were able to accelerate cellular regeneration in adult rats by intruding electromagnetic waves to afflicted parts of their bodies; humans too, have been shown to have enhanced healing at the cellular level when electromagnet fields are introduced. At the same time, it has been well documented that people exposed to high intensity electromagnetic fields, such as those created by power-line generators, are more susceptible to cancerous develops, such as leukemia.

A qualified Chi Power instructor can teach the chi gung practitioner how to harness this energy in a healing fashion, without painful side-effects. The difference being similar to an invigorating spa- massage vs. being seated in an electric chair at half-power; the choice is simple, and is ultimately yours.

What Is Reiki? (Part I)

The action to put your hands on yours or other people`s or animals` body to heal is in our nature. When we feel pain the first thing we do is to bring our hands where we have pain.
When we have fever we put our hands on our forehead to reduce suffer. The touch brings heat, serenity and healing. Animals do almost the same when they leak a wounded part of their body. In the animal world a mother leaks her kids when they are sick and human beings touch their babies with their hands.

The human or animal body irradiates heat and energy, which is vital force. This concept is well known and mentioned in all the human cultures, and this energy has different names according to each of these cultures. For example in India it is called Prana and because of this name we today talk about prana healing. Chinese call it Chi and for this reason today we know about Chi Kung, an ancient healing discipline.

In Reiki the healers have to open the energetic channels and to remove the blocks through harmonisations. The healers receive the energy to heal them and connect to the source of the universal energy, also called universal Ki. Reiki is not a religion; neither is connected to a religion. It is the source of life. It is an entity and as a concept is even older than religious philosophy.

Every living thing has Ki inside. Who or what receives a harmonisation or attenuement is in direct contact with its illuminated source. There is more than one level of attenuement. With the first level the living entity becomes a channel that drives the energy. When the first attenuement is received, in the future the entity has to put its hands on its or other entities body to connect to the universal Ki. The energy will flow automatically.

The attenuement that put into direct contact to the source of Ki, increases the vital energy also of those receiving it. They realize an energy that heals them and they would be able to heal other people, and this energy will not extinguish. When receiving the attenuement the entity is getting a gift which will change its life in positive.

The harmonization or initiation is a process that makes Reiki different from any other method of hand imposition or healing through physical contact. It is not a healing session, but it is the procedure created by a healer. At the first level the beginner receives the first combined attenuements, at the second level another one and a final one at the third level. Each attenuement increases the capability to channel Ki. The attenuements are the essence of Reiki. Reiki does not have sense without attenuements. There should always be a healer and a receiver. The transmission of attenuements follows a nice ritual process, but sometimes it can be performed faster without any ceremony.

During one of the attenuements of the three levels of Reiki the master stands behind the student and draw the Reiki symbols. Then he moves in front of the student and again behind repeating the process. Those receiving attenuements can realize different feelings. Someone can see colours or images, someone else can see past existences. Some are covered by light or feel a sensation of peace or of love or wonder. Everyone feels something but the levels can be different from individual to individual.

When someone becomes a healer, the first time he or she feels the energy flowing through his or her hands. In this moment, after receiving the attenuement the entity becomes Reiki. There is not anything new but the new situation opens and puts in order what was already present in him or her. It is like providing light energy in a house.

Some masters say that those receiving Reiki in this life are people who already received it in their previous lives. Reiki is a memory according to them. In reality we all have received Reiki as it is part of our genetic patrimony.

Reiki is composed of three degrees. During the attenuement of the first degree the scope is to heal the physical diseases. The beginner in fact feels a physical improvement in the first months after the first attenuement. In fact at the first level the healing sessions are self-healing. The beginner can also heal another person through a direct physical healing. At this aim the healer has to put his or her hands over the body of the person to heal.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (tcm Part 1)

In Chinese medicine there are at least five different primary methods of healing and there are numerous other lesser known methods of healing. The main five methods of healing are acupuncture, herbology, Chi Kung, bone setting and tuina massage. Each of these methods has many subcategories, methods and different schools of thought.

YIN & YANG

BALANCE = UNITY OF POLAR OPPOSITES

TCM utilizes Chi and Yin and Yang theory. The basic idea as applied to Chinese Medicine is that balance is the proper state of health. Yin and Yang are polar opposites that are partly defined by each other such as big and small, fast and slow, hot and cold, action and stillness, light and dark, up and down, wet and dry etc.. If there is imbalance in the body, mind or spirit such as to much heat or to much cold then it is unhealthy and sickness will result. The goal of healing with TCM and healing Chi Kung is to restore, regulate and maintain Chi balance to the mind, body and spirit.

Yin and Yang theory is one of the least understood aspects of TCM by most Westerners because it is variable and not fixed. For example: Earth is Yang and Water is Yin. However, either can be yang/hot or yin/cold. Compared to hot water steam is Yin or light even though it is in a hotter (more yang) temperature state than the liquid hot water. Ice is more yang than cold water because it is harder than liquid water even though by virtue of the temperature it is in a colder (more yin) state. Fifty degree air temperature is yin compared to 100 degrees but is yang compared to 10 degrees.

ACUPUNCTURE MERIDIANS AND POINTS

The largest and most common school of thought in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) utilizes meridian and pressure point theory. Meridians are invisible pathways in the body much like the nervous system that carries electrical pulses and stimuli except the meridians are thought to be channels or pathways that Chi energy flows through. Where the meridian lines can easily be accessed from the body surface is where most of the pressure points are located. Quite often pressure points are located in the same vicinity of the body where a blood artery or large vein and large nerves or nerve bundles are near the surface of the body.

Options To Strengthen And Ease Your Back Pain

Most people in the health care business when asked how-to deal with treatment for back pain usually recommend the same type of pain remedies. That is because western cultures rely too much on anti-inflammatory medications and pain relievers. Perhaps it is time to take a look at other options to strengthen a person’s back while easing back pain.

Exercise is an option that is worth trying. But which form of exersice do you choose? Aerobics is too high impact for people with back problems and isometric exercise can cause serious joint problems. Then there are calisthenics, these are good for your muscles but only help a certain number of muscles so this is not worth doing either. So what options are available that
can strengthen your muscles?

Tai Chi Is A Great Options For Back Pain

Tai Chi, is a marital art that can be very beneficial, for people with all types of back pain, it is designed to enhance the body’s resilience, improve flexibility, keep your weight in check and help a person to an easier recovery from injury. One of the reasons that Tai Chi works so well is that it is based on slow movements of the arms, legs and upper body. The person moves slowly, using deep breathing as a technique to help heal.

One of the other advantages is that those who are in the process of healing can do this program, even if they are still in pain, because it is not stressful on the body. Tai Chi also encourages better posture through its exercises and we all know that good posture goes a long way to how someone’s back feels.

Yoga Is A Good Way To Strengthen Back Muscles

Yoga, which came from Hindu teachings, is not unlike Tai Chi, its designed to help a person restore both body and mind. By doing Yoga exercises you are strengthening your back muscles, improving posture and bring into line the spine. Yoga practitioners believe that if you learn about your body, in this case your back, then you become more able to tune into the area of problems and make them better before they become really bad.

Each Yoga positions is designed to do something specific. Either to strengthen, stretch or diminish the tension in the area. It also boosts blood flow, which is good for healing sore muscles. One of the benefits of using yoga when your back is painful is that the yoga exercises go a long way to stretching the spine. By doing these exercises the stretching is taking the pressure off of the vertebrae and so alleviating the compression. This will greatly reduce back pain.

Tai Chi Or Yoga Are Good For Overall Health

The other advantage to using Tai Chi or Yoga is that it is not expensive, both forms of exercise are good for healing as well as a long term health benefit. They are the most effective non invasive treatment for back pain and do not require a person to take medication of any kind. Then when the pain is gone either one is still good to keep up for your overall physical health.

Dr. Berkowsky’s Vital Chi Skin Brushing System

Copyright 2005 by Joseph Ben Hil-Meyer Research, Inc.

Bruce Berkowsky, N.M.D., NCTMB

The Vital Chi Skin-Brushing System (which required hundreds of hours of research and experimentation to develop) evolved from my training and experience in anatomy and physiology and various bodywork disciplines as well as the Oriental healing arts. I designed my skin-brushing system to support: blood- and lymph circulation, the immune system, the movement of Chi along the acupuncture channels, all the major physiological functions of the skin as well as to enhance skin beauty and encourage the breakdown of cellulite. Yet, this system is quick, concise and user-friendly.

The following discussion highlights the tremendous, but often overlooked, physiological importance of the skin and the potential benefits of my Vital Chi Skin-Brushing System.

INTRODUCTION: The Skin’s Vital FunctioFunctions Of The Skin

Excretion:

No other organ is more actively engaged in discharging impurities from the body than the skin; it is a close relative of both the lungs and kidneys. Like the lungs, it absorbs oxygen and expels carbon dioxide and water vapor; and, like the kidneys, it excretes organic and saline matter in solution. The entire surface of the skin is impregnated with millions of sweat glands which constitute a vast drainage system whereby the blood, via perspiration, purifies itself of poisonous waste that it has collected from the cells.

Blood Circulation:

There are approximately 17 sq. feet of skin surface; when its capillaries are fully dilated, it presents 6-times the capillary surface area of the lungs. This vast blood vessel network is required for: 1) nutrition and oxygenation of skin tissue; 2) regulation of body heat (the blood is cooled when it moves through the surface capillaries); 3) distillation of waste matter from the blood; 4) the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between blood and atmosphere. The skin’s blood vessel network is as crucial as the heart for normal circulation. The vast storage capacity of the skin’s blood vessels enable them to act as blood reservoirs which release or store blood as needed.

Lymph Circulation:

The lymph vessels transport excess, waste-charged fluid away from the intercellular spaces and return it to the bloodstream. Lymph acts as a go-between medium for the transfer of vital materials from the blood to the cells, and for cellular debris away from the intercellular environment into the blood. Thus, the blood feeds the lymph, and the lymph feeds the cells, making the drainage of intercellular lymph one of the most crucial of all body functions. The superficial lymph vessels terminate just below the outer layer of skin and interjoin freely with the deeper lymphatic vessels. Any blockage at the superficial lymphatic level will result in congestion throughout the whole lymphatic system. Skin-brushing is an excellent way to stimulate the activity of the entire lymphatic system.

Bioenergy Conduction:

“Aliveness” derives from the presence of high-vibratory, vital energy within an organism. This energy, or natural force, which fills the universe is referred to in traditional naturopathy and homeopathy as Vital Force and in Chinese medicine as Chi. Hence, I have coined the term Vital Chi.

Vital Chi is the fundamental energy which sustains life and is present in the vibratory, biological processes of every cell. Vital Chi is not synonymous with the metabolically generated energy derived from the oxidation of glucose. Rather, it is the force that animates the metabolic processes which ultimately yield caloric energy. Vital Chi differentiates life from death; it circulates through channels, or meridians, throughout the body. Being an essential matrix for the Vital Chi channels, the skin is a crucial medium for Vital Chi movement. The places at which the various channels and vessels reach the skin’s surface are the “acupoints” used in acupuncture and acupressure. Aside from the Vital Chi which courses through the channels, a superficial portion of Vital Chi (which the Chinese refer to as Wei Chi or Guardian Chi) flows outside the channels in a non-differentiated layer beneath the skin. The Wei Chi serves as a defensive perimeter protecting against environmental influences such as varying weather conditions, pathogenic microorganisms, pollutants, emotional stresses derived from human interaction and other external challenges.

The Primary Benefits of Vital Chi Skin-Brushing

Assists Shedding of Dead Skin Cells:

The outermost layer of skin cells which serve to protect the underlying skin layers are not living cells, thus, they are continuously shed and replaced via the multiplication and upward movement of living skin cells. Inactive aging skin does not shed dead cells as easily as does youthful skin, so it is susceptible to cellular build-up which accounts, in part, for the dry, thick, leathery-look of older skin. The most obvious mechanical effect of skin-brushing is the detachment of dead skin cells.

Excites Vital Functions:

Proper skin-brushing supports lymphatic drainage of the skin by: 1) accelerating filtration from the intercellular spaces into the lymph vessels, 2) the emptying of the smaller vessels into the larger lymph vessels; 3) assisting the flow of lymph through the lymph nodes.

Skin-brushing similarly increases venous (i.e., vein) blood flow. The veins carry the blood back to the heart. Return blood-flow through the veins is not propelled as much by direct heart action as by muscular contraction and vein constriction. Skin-brushing excites and tonifies the muscles and nerves of the skin, thus, it improves venous circulation. These same mechanical effects directly enhance capillary circulation as evidenced by the skin-flush and feeling of warmth that skin-brushing imparts.

The skin is impregnated with nerve end-fibers which play an indispensable role in nervous system activity. This explains the remarkable relaxing effect, including decreased muscular tension, elicited by skin-brushing. Decreased muscular tension affords better lung capacity, digestion, bowel movements, blood circulation, lymph drainage as well as clearer thinking.

Strengthens the Bioenergy System:

Unimpeded Vital Chi flow is essential to the prevention and cure of disease. Since the Vital Chi meridians course through the skin, they are readily accessible to the ministrations of skin-brushing. When these channels are massaged, the movement of energy along their length is stimulated and the delivery of Vital Chi to their associated organs greatly improved. Proper skin-brushing can also exert a profound influence upon the Wei Chi: the undifferentiated layer of Vital Chi which hovers near the skin’s surface.

Benefits Mature Skin:

Decreased sweat- and oil gland functions are a feature of aging. The oil secreted by the sebaceous glands coats the surface of the skin and prevents excessive water-loss through evaporation. Proper skin-brushing stimulates both the sweat- and oil glands, and in this way, contributes to the restoration of moist, supple skin. Also, it strengthens the skin pores through which the skin is moisturized and cleansed and oxygen and CO2 are exchanged. Aging and devitalization of the skin often results in pore-enlargement and flaccidity due to loss of skin tone and depleted Wei Chi.

Promotes Skin Beauty:

Skin-brushing makes a strong impression upon the dermis (the skin layer that contains an abundance of blood and lymph vessels), nerves, glands and elastin and collagen fibers. The dermis provides nutrients and moisture to all the skin layers and lends contour and flexibility. When the dermis ages, its connective tissue fibers reduce, rigidify, lose resilience and even break into pieces, causing the skin’s support muscles to lose tone and volume and the skin to dehydrate and collapse into sags, wrinkles and lines.

Healthy connective tissue and muscles are products of efficient nutrient support and oxygenation, a waste-free milieu, optimal water balance and moderate exercise, all of which are promoted by regular skin-brushing. The gentle stretching of connective tissues, afforded by proper skin-brushing, helps to increase and regenerate the production of collagen and elastin fibers.

Cellulite is a structural disturbance of fat tissue. The fat content of cellulite-containing tissue is normal, but fibrous nodules surrounding the fat cells give affected skin areas their typical orange-peel appearance. Cellulite formation is related, in part, to local vein and lymph congestion. Proper skin-brushing can help to alleviate this condition.

Important Note: This article is for informational purposes only and is not meant as a prescription. Each person is unique and advised to seek the advice of a qualified health-care practitioner to determine relevance in a given case. Never skin-brush during an active metastatic cancer state. All cancer patients are advised to consult an oncologist if considering a skin-brushing regimen.

Rejuvenate Thyroid Function: Protocol of Vital Chi Skin Brushing System and Alternate Hot and Cold Shower

© 2005 by Joseph Ben Hil-Meyer Research, Inc.

Bruce Berkowsky, N.M.D., M.H., NCTMB

The thyroid gland, a small structure normally weighing only one ounce, has a disproportionately immense influence on the human organism. Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) is so prevalent in this era that symptoms of nearly every chronic disease are, to varying degrees, linked to abnormal thyroid activity.

Located in front of the trachea, just below the larynx on either side, the thyroid gland produces several hormones, including thyroxin (T3) and triiodothryonine (T4) which help to regulate the metabolism of carbohydrates, mobilization of fats and synthesis of proteins. Calcitonin, another hormone secreted by the thyroid gland, helps to regulate calcium and phosphate levels and is required for uptake of calcium by the bones. Hypothyroid women are frequently found to have inadequate levels of the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH): a thyroid-modulated hormone that initiates maturation of the egg cells in the ovaries. The developing egg cells, in turn, produce estrogen. Hypothyroidism often plays a role in infertility, menstrual disorders and in some cases may be the cause of menopausal hot flashes.

Hypothyroidism and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) are closely related disorders. Notably, hypothyroidism may also play a significant role in diabetes (high blood sugar). Also, over time hypothyroidism may cause the adrenal glands to shrink.

Other symptoms of hypothyroidism include: anxiety; nervousness; depression (including post-partum depression); irritability; suspiciousness; anger; introversion; low energy levels; chronic fatigue; hypersensitivity; chilliness; cold hands and/or feet; fluid retention; slow wound healing; mental dullness and failing memory; insomnia; weakened immune system; puffy face and eyelids; devitalized hair, skin and nails; heart palpitations; digestive weakness; poor appetite; constipation; inability to tan; loss of bone mass; muscle soreness; neuralgia; joint pain.

Supporting the Thyroid Gland Using Vital Chi Skin-Brushing System

and Alternate Hot and Cold Shower

The Vital Chi Skin-Brushing System

Vital Chi Skin-Brushing can sustain or reestablish the skin’s functional integrity and youthful glow. The skin is as major an organ as the heart, lungs and kidneys. Its primary functions include: respiration, excretion, blood and lymph circulation, immunity and the conduction of chi. Thus, Vital Chi Skin-Brushing is a particularly powerful therapy which can positively impact the entire body.

Variations of skin-brushing have been practiced for thousands of years. My Vital Chi Skin-Brushing System, which required hundreds of hours of research and experimentation to develop, evolved from my training and teaching experience in anatomy and physiology and various bodywork disciplines as well as the Oriental healing arts. I designed this system to support blood- and lymph circulation, the immune system, the movement of chi along the acupuncture channels, all the major physiological functions of the skin as well as to enhance skin beauty and encourage the breakdown of cellulite. Yet, my system is quick, concise and user-friendly.

INTRODUCTION: The Skin’s Vital Functions

Primary Benefits of the Vital Chi Skin-Brushing System:

Assists Exfoliation:

The outermost layer of skin cells which serve to protect the underlying skin layers are not living cells, thus, they are continuously shed and replaced via the multiplication and upward movement of living skin cells. The most obvious mechanical effect of skin-brushing is the detachment of dead skin cells.

Excites Physiological Functions:

Proper skin-brushing supports lymphatic drainage of the skin. Lymph acts as a go-between medium for the transfer of vital materials from the blood to the cells, and for cellular debris away from the intercellular environment into the blood. The drainage of intercellular lymph is one of the most crucial of all bodily functions.

Skin-brushing excites and tonifies the muscles and nerves of the skin, thus, it improves blood circulation in the veins and capillaries. This helps explain the skin-flush and feeling of warmth that skin-brushing imparts.

The skin is impregnated with nerve end-fibers which play an indispensable role in nervous system activity. This is why skin-brushing decreases muscular tension and otherwise has a remarkable relaxing effect.

Strengthens Chi Flow:

Chi, a Chinese term (referred to in traditional naturopathy and homeopathy as vital force), is the fundamental energy which sustains life and is present in the vibratory, biological processes of every cell. Unimpeded chi-flow is essential to the prevention of disease. Since the chi meridians course through the skin, they are readily accessible to the ministrations of skin-brushing.

Benefits Mature Skin:

Decreased sweat- and oil gland functions are features of aging. Proper skin-brushing stimulates both the sweat and oil glands and tonifies the skin-pores, and in this way, contributes to the restoration of moist, supple skin.

Promotes Skin Beauty:

Skin-brushing makes a strong impression upon the dermis, the layer of dense connective tissue which lies beneath the epidermis. When the dermis ages, its connective tissue fibers reduce, rigidify and lose resilience, causing the skin’s support muscles to lose tone and volume and the skin to dehydrate and collapse into sags, wrinkles and lines.

Cellulite is a structural disturbance of fat tissue. Cellulite formation is related, in part, to local vein and lymph congestion. Proper skin-brushing can help to alleviate this condition.

The Alternate Hot/Cold Shower

The Alternate Hot/Cold Shower procedure is one I suggest most commonly as an overall tonic treatment to revitalize circulatory, endocrine, immune, lymphatic, nerve and skin functions. When employed three to four times weekly, this shower (preceded by the Vital Chi Skin-Brushing routine) can be wonderfully restorative.

The hot shower is applied first for 2- to 3-minutes; then, instantly, before the sedative reaction of prolonged heat can take place, a 15- to 20-seconds short, cold shower, is taken (while hand-rubbing the skin throughout this cold-water shower to increase circulation). Next, a second hot shower is used (as above), and the body responds with new vigor to the tonic-stimulant effect of the hot water. Always finish with cold water to ensure that the important warming reaction takes place. This procedure is referred to as contrast treatment during which the heat magnifies the stimulating effect of the cold, and vice versa, providing a powerful gymnastics workout for the blood and lymph systems.

Remember, the greater the temperature differences between hot and cold applications, the greater the effect. Importantly, for maximum personal benefit, the contrast between the two temperature extremes should be to the limits of comfortable tolerance. Otherwise, one’s system can be overtaxed. Be conscious of your relative state of vitality on a given day and adjust the temperature of the water and duration of each shower phase accordingly.

Two to three alternations between hot and cold water are used. Excess (more than three) alternations may be depleting and defeat the treatment’s purpose.

Using Healing Crystals and Feng Shui to Improve Your Life Style

FENG SHUI USING HEALING CRYSTAL CLEARING STONES & ‘I’ CHING COINS

Have you ever noticed how some spaces are filled with a sense of peace and calm, while others make you feel uneasy or sad, or anxious to leave? This is because spaces become saturated with the residual energy of everything that happens there.

Clearing your living or working environment of all chaotic, negative, and stale energy will result not only in an immediate and noticeable transformation of the ‘vibe’ of your space, but also in an increased sense of well-being for all of its inhabitants.

Space Clearing is a simple technique that effectively cleanses any space of this energy residue, resulting in a fresh, vibrant, and healthy environment. It is so important that you clearly understand that the power of the space clearing ritual arises from your clear and strong desire to enact change in your life. Your intention creates a field of energy that acts as a magnetic force for drawing your desires to you. What you focus on is what you will create. Space clearing is an exercise in getting clear about your intentions.

Crystals are a light cure and are able to radiate light into the home. Place clear quartz crystals near a window to admire the sparkle of light being emitted into the home. Crystals are able to break up chi in the home by illuminating it and dispersing the negative chi and replacing it with vibrant chi from the sun. The crystal is a medium to bring the sun into more areas of the home. Play with the crystal and you can see the little rainbows dance throughout the room.

Feng Shui crystals come in all sizes, colours and shapes, and you choose the correct colour for your intention. Feng Shui, is pronounced Fung Shway, and literally means ‘wind and waters’.

Traditional methods to enhance and distribute Chi energy

Here are the most common methods used to direct and balance chi. Experiment by placing different items in specific positions. Keep a diary of what you do and what effects and changes you notice in your daily life.

FISH BOWLS – are great to strengthen the WATER element to attract chi, wealth and prosperity. If you can’t have a live aquarium, try hanging a ‘water’ type painting. Especially important when there is no other view of water.

LIVING PLANTS – Pot plants and flowers enhance and energise the element of WOOD. Use them in corners of your living and dining room but not in the kitchen or bedroom. Look after your plants, keep them healthy and vigourous.

CANDLES AND LIGHTS – use these to energise the element of FIRE. Glaring lights are inauspicious whereas bright but subtle lights are favourable. Candles bring life and Yang energy to dead and dark corners. They are very good for balancing odd-shaped rooms.

CRYSTALS – are an ancient way of energising the EARTH element. Healing Crystals reflect the light helping to disperse chi into smaller, more beneficial proportions. Hang a glass bell in the rays of the rising sun for good fortune.

METAL CHIMES AND BELLS – are very good to energise the METAL element. Metal chimes connect with the wind and bring chi into a room or house. To moderate strong chi, hang near the entrance or window. Hollow chimes channel chi upwards.

To assist with CLEARING, carry 4 QUARTZ crystals with 3 ‘I’ Ching coins on a length of red ribbon to hang the coins for good luck.

To assist with GOOD FORTUNE, carry 4 JADE crystals with 3 ‘I’ Ching coins on a length of red ribbon to hang the coins for good luck.

To assist with GOOD HEALTH, carry 4 AVENTURINE crystals with 3 ‘I’ Ching coins on a length of red ribbon to hang the coins for good luck.

To assist with MEDITATION, carry 4 AMETHYST crystals with 3 ‘I’ Ching coins on a length of red ribbon to hang the coins for good luck.

There are a variety of natural treatments, so let’s look at them.

1. Massage

Is a fantastic stress and anxiety buster, which is a major cause of depression.

Massage is deeply relaxing and can be enhanced by an aromatherapist who uses a blend of oils to help alleviate both physical and mental anxieties and stress.

2. Meditation

When the body experiences total relaxation through meditation, mental clarity starts improves and many people can see things more clearly. Yoga and Tai Chi are great for this.

3. Healing with color

It is well known that color affects our mood and can enhance both elation and depression and changing colors around you will help immensely.

It may sound odd at first but color is the first thing we register above all else.

Chromo therapy works by studying a pattern of vibrations produced by your body which can be deciphered by a trained color therapist.

If you feel depressed, your body produces an unbalanced pattern of vibrations.

The therapist aims to adjust these patterns, restoring balance.

Chromotherapy is a proven treatment for mild depression that works.

4. Chiropractic and osteopathy

L-Tyrosine supplementation can help reduce stress, improves mental alertness, and enhances mood.

C Could this be natures wonder cure?

There is a huge amount of excitement about organic nicotine (removed from cigarettes) It’s a known fact that smokers get depressed less than smokers and that in clinical tests it has been proven that 70% of people suffering depression saw vast improvement when treated with nicotine.

Nicotine is known to switch on receptors on the surface of cells in parts of the brain, this causes the neurons to release the Neuro-transmitter dopamine, a chemical that affects our mood.

There is a huge amount of research going on to deliver nicotine in pure organic form to treat depression and the first is on the market nicotine in water.

Originally aimed at smokers when they couldn’t or didn’t wish to smoke, many people with depression have been taking it for its affect on their mood.

All the above 3 supplements are available without prescription.

Depression affects a huge number of people and not all people are cured in the same way, but the above gives you a variety of natural cures you can try if you feel depressed and cure your mood naturally.
